Texas Plans 800 Million Border Security Push
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott approved an 800 million plan to strengthen border security over two years. The package includes a second high altitude surveillance plane, a new border data center, a 5000 acre training facility, grants for year round helicopter flights, and recruitment of two dozen Texas Rangers and 250 state troopers to form a state border enforcement presence. Abbott argues the move protects residents amid ongoing cartel activity in the region.
