Beaufort murder trial opens in booted vehicle dispute
In Beaufort County jury selection began for Preston Oates, 30, charged with murder over the Christmas Eve 2010 shooting death of Carlos Olivera, 34, after a dispute about a booted vehicle. Oates had been charged with involuntary manslaughter before.

Teen charged with murder after weekend stabbing in Greer
In Greer, Greenville County, police say a 60 year old man Thomas Wilkins died from stab wounds after a Saturday early morning incident at a home. A 16 year old male was injured and charged with murder attempt ed murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The attacker was hospitalized and the slayings occurred during an altercation in the home.
