Gene linked mutated patched gene to basal cell carcinoma
Researchers report in Science and Cell that a mutation in the patched gene drives basal cell carcinoma and basal cell nevus syndrome BCNS. The discovery spans fruit flies mice and humans and links sun exposure to the skin cancer while noting BCNS affects 1 in 57 000 to 1 in 164 000 people.
