A 34 year old ultraright member Hiroyoshi Fudeyasu attacked Prime Minister Takeo Miki with fists moments before a funeral for former PM Eishaku Sato. Police said Miki remained standing, later led the ceremony as chairman. Fudeyasu carried a five inch knife and a death by own action note criticizing pro Communist policy and treaty ratification.
Brezhnev, 68, portrayed as healthy and upbeat, told reporters after voting in the Russian parliamentary elections that he felt fine and would have a busy schedule ahead. He had been ill last fall and had a month long absence that sparked rumors of renewed illness.
The Elima newspaper reports a plot by Zaireans and black Americans to assassinate President Mobutu Sese Seko. It says several generals were among the plotters and that American arrestees carried high powered rifles with telescopic sights. No dates or locations were given.

About 150 inmates at the Women's Prison threw rocks and glass at officials Sunday night after refusing to return to cells. The official said they remained on the lawn into the morning, but the protest was quiet.
A North Carolina state highway department worker was seen Saturday at the Palmetto Golf Club repairing golf carts with a state station wagon parked on the course. The decision jeopardizes the 18 acre site plan amid scheduling pressure from HUD and potential appeal to the state Supreme Court. Plaintiffs include Robert Cato Tom McGee Ronnie Thompson and Darlene Thompson against the city of Aiken.

An Aiken County resident was charged with assault and battery with intent to kill after a dispute at Club 18 on Highway 19. Charlie Buff and Donna Hatcher argued at the club. the fight moved to Hatcher’s Reynolds Pond Road home around 4 30 a.m. Waldo Buff was beaten with a chain and knife, receiving more than 200 stitches.
