Points system to decide Derby field at Churchill Downs
Churchill Downs announced a Road to the Kentucky Derby points system spanning 36 designated races to determine the Derby field, replacing the prior earnings-based method. Top four finishers in key prep races earn 100 points, with 50 and 10 point scales in other races, and up to 24 horses may enter with four also eligibles.
