May Wholesale Prices Fall Sharply and Retail Sales Dip
The Labor Department reports May wholesale prices down 0.6 percent led by energy costs and lower vegetable prices. Retail sales drop 0.5 percent, the largest in nine months, blamed on cool weather. Analysts expect a June rebound as employment remains strong. The NFIB index rises to 100.8 signaling small business optimism.
