Watergate roundup reports Magruder accusing Nixon campaigners of aiming to disgrace and remove the Democratic Party’s most experienced professional as they planned the Watergate raid amid Senate investigations.
Jeb Magruder testified that fear and the belief of illegal acts by antiwar groups drove Watergate planning. He cited death threats against Martha Mitchell and suspected Democratic spies, with final approval for espionage from John Mitchell and possible awareness by H R Haldeman.
Washington AP reports that a majority of lawmakers avoid discussing impeachment over Watergate. Fewer than a dozen House members joined a Tuesday debate on whether to study grounds for impeachment. Rep Bella Abzug urged careful constitutional process despite limited support.

The Atomic Energy Commission will immediately comply with a court order to prepare an environmental impact statement on the entire liquid metal fast breeder reactor program. Chairman Dixie Lee Ray said the statement will cover the full program and comply with the National Environmental Policy Act. The commission expects the report to take several months to complete.
