The Aiken City Council holds a second reading and public hearing on its proposed 8.077 million dollar budget, 8.5 percent above last year, with a 1 per month garbage rate rise and higher sewer charges. Meeting at 7:30 in Municipal Building council chambers.
Aiken County Council will hold a special meeting to give second reading to the proposed 9,857,702 budget which allows only a 1 percent tax increase and calls for deep cuts across agencies. Afterward a work session may reinstate some cuts at 736 Richland Ave W. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the county council chambers.
The Aiken County School Board will adopt the district 1982 83 budget at 7 30 PM in the Education Center board room on Edgefield Avenue. A majority vote is needed to pass the 46 million dollar budget after the June 1 public hearing at Midland Valley High School.
