Transportation budget meeting draws large public turnout
Citizens filled a public meeting on the draft fiscal year 2007 2012 Transportation Improvement Program for the Augusta Regional Transportation Study ARTS covering Richmond and portions of Columbia Aiken and Edgefield counties. Stephen Strohminger said funds were shifted but no new projects added. next year will be an update year.

North Augusta Middle School will receive a Synergistic computer lab after LBC Middle School support. The program, by Pitsco Corp, focuses on math and science careers through about 16 clusters. Public Education Partners has raised or pledged 54000 from local businesses for labs at LBC, Schofield, and NAMS.

Wackenhut Officer Dies After Workout at SRS Facility
Charles Brown a 48 year old Wackenhut security officer from Martinez Georgia died after experiencing medical problems while running on an indoor treadmill at the Savannah River Site He had been with Wackenhut since 1987 and had recently passed fitness tests before his sudden collapse University Hospital treated him but he did not survive officials said The Barwell County coroner and SRS spokesperson Rob Davis expressed sadness and offered condolences to his family
