Indictment Adds To Jenrette's Trouble
Rep. John Jenrette faces potential federal indictment linked to the Abscam probe amid alcoholism and financial strains. He acknowledged Abscam pressure during the primary as four challengers entered the race and his campaign funds ran short. His wife sold property to cover legal bills of about 250000 dollars while an undercover sting allegedly delivered a 50000 dollar bribe offer. The 43-year-old Democrat won 45 percent in the primary and faces a June 24 runoff.
