Highlanders to perform at Hopelands Gardens

The Augusta Highlanders Pipes and Drums will present a free 7 p.m. concert at the Roland H. Windham Performing Arts Stage in Hopelands Gardens as part of the Summer Concert Series. Members will play Highland bagpipes, a Scottish snare drum and possibly a Celtic harp. Spectators may bring picnics, lawn chairs and blankets. parking is available at Rye Patch and Hopelands lots. alcohol is prohibited. For more information call 642-7631.

Fireworks return to Aiken with July 1 display

Coontz Investments sponsors a July 1 fireworks at the Aiken Jaycees Fairground marking the first show since the mall discontinued its display. Displaced Ellenton reunion lights up Silver Bluff High

More than 170 former Ellenton residents, Dunbarton Hawthorne Leigh Meyer's Mill and Robbins gathered at Silver Bluff High School for a day of hugs and memories of a town vanished after the Savannah River Plant announcement on Nov 25 1950. Betty Greene called it the largest crowd yet and reconnected with former teacher Imogene Schumpert.
