Two Charged In Teen's Death
A 14-year-old boy faces involuntary manslaughter charges in the shooting death of South Aiken High football player Ryan Donavan Gallay. DOE Manager At SRS To Leave Post
Vice Admiral Peter M. Hekman Jr. will leave his post as Savannah River Site manager early in 1993 to return to private life. He informed DOE headquarters that he wishes to depart government service after completing his assignment. Hekman, appointed August 1, 1991, will end a 40 plus year career in the U.S. military and government, with battles in the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets and several service medals. He lives in Aiken, California native, married with two children. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1958 and held key Navy roles including overseeing construction of the nuclear powered cruiser USS Mississippi.
