Marjorie Ann Dessauer 95 of Savannah died June 6 at her home. Born March 5 1928 in Rochester NY she married Godard Dessauer in 1948. An artist and longtime supporter of The Allen Community Concerts Association she painted portraits and life studies and later resumed art after her husband’s death. Survived by four children and extended family. Memorial donations requested to The Telfair Museum. A luncheon reception is planned June 16 at Autumn Lake Berwick Clubhouse.

Murray Fromson dies veteran CBS reporter at 88
Murray Fromson a longtime CBS News correspondent and former Associated Press reporter died in Los Angeles at 88 after years with Alzheimer’s disease. He covered the Korean and Vietnam wars including Saigon’s fall and the space program and earned Overseas Press Club awards for Saigon reporting. He helped found the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and taught at the University of Southern California.

Holocaust survivor Gena Turgel dies at 95 in London
Gena Turgel, who comforted Anne Frank at Bergen-Belsen before its liberation, died aged 95 in London. The Polish-born survivor, known as The Bride of Belsen, shared World War II experiences and served as a memorial voice. Her wedding dress parachute silk is part of Imperial War Museum’s collection.
