Susan Selden, new executive director of the Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons, outlines efforts to raise awareness in Aiken and surrounding counties. The center updated its mission, moved to a larger Edgefield office, and added staff and a Youth Violence Prevention push. A two part fundraiser, the Homegrown Festival and Southern Soiree, is set for June 25 at the Big Red Barn with music, food, beer, and a farm to table dinner. Tickets range from 10 to 75 dollars with under sixes free. For details see cumbeecenter.org.
