Seat belt law tightened in South Carolina

South Carolina enacts a stronger seat belt law to take effect January 2006 with a 25 dollar fine for unbelted motorists. New Seat Belt Law Expands Enforcement and Penalties

New law allows police to stop any unbelted driver or passenger and imposes fines up to 25 dollars per person and 50 dollars per car with no court fees or suspension.
