Seven congressmen lead a push to outlaw all tobacco promotion citing nearly a thousand daily smoking related deaths. The plan targets newspaper magazine ads billboards posters and matchbook covers and would ban brand name sponsorship of sports and arts events. In Charlotte the AAA Carolina Motor Club reports average overnight costs for a couple in North and South Carolina at 78.09 with mountain stays at 65.88 and beach stays around 89.64 based on 1985 86 lodging data.
