Gas prices dip toward 3 dollars amid global factors

House votes to slash MOX funding and shift to nonproliferation
The House approved an amendment moving about 17.3 million from the Mixed Oxide Fuel project at Savannah River Site to the Global Threat Reduction Initiative. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry said MOX has cost billions with little effect while funds could bolster nuclear security efforts. The MOX facility at SRS aims to convert surplus plutonium to reactor fuel and was slated for 2016 operation. The measure passed 328 to 89.
