Cottage Fire Destroys Hankinson Cottage in Aiken
Aiken firefighters battled a blaze that gutted Hankinson Cottage at 505 Highland Park Drive after 2:30 a.m. The three story wooden boarding house, built in the 1920s and once run by Annie Hankinson, was under control by 5 a.m. No residents injuries but a Himalayan kitten died from smoke.
