Funeral services for Jon Brock, 36, of New Ellenton, will be held Friday June 7 2013 at 2 pm at St Paul United Methodist Church New Ellenton with pallbearers listed and burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 pm to service time at the church. George Funeral Home Cremation Center of Aiken handles arrangements. Brock, a welder and Master Mason, died June 5 2013 at his residence after a long illness leaving four siblings and four children with Elizabeth Paradise of Aiken as his partner. Memorials may go to Hospice Care of South Carolina or St Paul UMC Family Life Center.

Shane Jones known as Superman will be honored at a June 8 2013 service at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Thurmond officiating. Interment follows at Southlawn Cemetery. The 2013 legislative session ended with few major goals achieved. A key reform to prevent removal of candidates from primaries advanced to the governor and would require March 30 filing of financial disclosures with fines for noncompliance. Ethics and cyber security measures remain stalemated as 2014 begins, with lawmakers noting progress but unresolved control and oversight issues.
House leaders say key funding for a cyber security chief and taxpayer credit monitoring will be written into the 2013 14 budget with an estimated 20 to 25 million for the effort. A separate bill to strengthen public records laws stalled in committee. Rep Bill Taylor cites a legislative exemption as the obstacle to advancing the measure.
State health officials ordered the original TB patient in Greenwood County to a medical lockdown facility after tracing dozens of positive tests to Ninety Six Primary School employees. A second contagious employee is under investigation and ordered to stay home.
