Melillo homers as South Carolina ousts North Carolina in regional
Kevin Melillo hit a two run homer in the fourth to give South Carolina a 7 6 win over North Carolina at Sarge Frye Field. The Gamecocks avoided elimination for a fifth straight year in the NCAA super regional push and will host a three game series starting Friday or Saturday against the Kinston regional winner. North Carolina stranded bases loaded with no outs in the sixth and saw reliever Jason Fletcher earn the win in five innings of relief while Melillo sealed the victory with his two run shot and 17th save by Jonathon.
