Evacuation at Aiken Public Safety by possible bomb device
A woman delivered a plastic bag containing what officials believed to be a powerful explosive to Aiken Public Safety HQ at 251 Laurens St. The device prompted a 90 minute emergency response, with evacuations, relocation of dispatch, and road closures from Abbeville to Barnwell avenues and Newberry to Pendleton streets as an explosives officer examined the bag. Officials warned the item resembled a real bomb. The woman left the scene and remains unidentified as the incident was handled by state investigators.
