Doctors praise Shabazz progress in burn treatment
Surgeons removed twenty percent of Betty Shabazz's burned skin and applied Integra to the remaining flesh at Jacobi Medical Center. They planned another removal of twenty to twenty five percent, depending on her stability, as the widow of Malcolm X fights for survival after a Yonkers apartment fire blamed on her 12 year old grandson. The hospital will assess whether the artificial skin integrates over the next two to three weeks.
