The Food and Drug Administration announces virtually all antacids must be relabeled and reformulated to meet federal nonprescription drug standards. By Tuesday, manufacturers of about 8,000 brands have one year to relabel reformulate or pull products.
The EPA says federal rules will ensure unleaded gasoline is available nationwide before 1975 model cars require it. Assistant administrator Alan G. Kirk II announced on Tuesday that about 111 000 service stations must start selling unleaded fuel by July 1. The official noted 90 to 95 percent of 1975 cars will need unleaded gas due to pollution controls.
Rep. James Mann argues it would be futile to charge President Nixon with contempt of Congress for not releasing White House tapes unless the action forms part of impeachment. He questions whether contempt alone would justify impeachment but sees possible inclusion in an impeachment bill.
