Dozens of businesses along US 501 were evacuated due to toxic fumes while traffic was rerouted. Two Dead After Police Chase In Ravenel Elgin
Two people died and two were hospitalized after a car struck by a motorcycle fleeing a police stop on US 17 in Ravenel. Rider Willie Watkins Jr. and Ella Brown Stewart died at scene. Sabrina Wall and an 18 month old were treated or observed. Police had tried to stop the biker but lost him.
