Budget Bill Clears House in South Carolina Adjournment Hurdle
The SC General Assembly moves toward adjournment after agreeing on a 1.052 million general appropriations bill. Debates centered on home rule annexation provisions, with Senate support wavering and House critics urging restraint on unrelated spending and reapportionment mandates. A companion gun control bill, milder than some measures but tougher than current law, nears final passage with a 10 day pistol waiting period and enhanced dealer scrutiny.
