Aiken schedules its annual Girl Scout Camp for June 7 to 14 at Kiwanis near Langley with strict safety rules. Camp features supervised swimming, nurse on site, Red Cross trained directors, screened quarters, and meals at 35 cents per day’s fee per girl, plus labeled bedding and packing instructions. Visitors limited to designated day. gift shop and canteen planned. Stunt Night and a week of activities highlighted.

Frazier McCall Dies in Georgia Community
Death of Frazier McCall of Guyton Georgia occurred Monday morning May 24 1926 after long illness. Funeral held at Turkey Branch Baptist Church Tuesday at 3 PM Rev Carton officiating burial in adjacent cemetery. Survived by wife Ola seven sons four daughters one brother two sisters and mother along with many nieces and nephews.

Building and Loan Meeting Attracts Local Leaders
The annual Aiken Building and Loan Association meeting reported strong finances with about 6.5 percent net earnings. A new board was elected led by R. L. Gunter as president and A. K. Lorenz as vice president. Sheriff and deputies seized a moonshine outfit at Bogard Hill, destroying vats, mash, and whiskey, and arresting occupants. In Madison, deputies arrested J. T. Scott and Fannie Tyler for illegal whiskey possession.

Shooting Targets Couple Near Aiken while Returning from Augusta
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cushman were fired upon Sunday evening three miles from Aiken while returning from Augusta. A Ford car passing them opened fire, one bullet shattered the windshield and a shard struck Mrs. Cushman on the arm. Authorities seek the assailants.

Walker charged in local auto theft case
Last week Harry Poythress reported his car missing from Laurens street. Chief George traced Lee Walker to Spartanburg and returned him to Aiken where Walker admitted taking the vehicle while drunk. Walker is a 21-year-old white man.

Williams House rebuild bid awarded to Anderson Stiefel Co
On Monday bids opened in Augusta for the Williams house reconstruction recently bought by John W. Converse. The Anderson Stiefel Construction Co of Aiken was the low bidder and awarded the contract with a bid near $17,000 for extensive additions and modernization.
