Man arrested in FEMA agent scam
North Augusta man Joshua Wayne Bagwell, 29, was arrested in Clearwater on Friday for posing as a FEMA agent. He lured two residents from their homes while another suspect looted money, jewelry, and medications. He faces two breaking and entering and larceny charges in Rockingham County, North Carolina.

J Strom Thurmond Jr. spoke at the May 21 Senior Men's Club meeting in Aiken. As solicitor for the Second Judicial Circuit serving Aiken Barnwell and Bamberg counties, he described the office's 45 staff, 12 lawyers, and about 3,000 yearly cases including 750 juvenile prosecutions. He highlighted diversion programs, a worthless check unit that funds victims, a drug court, and 24/7 legal support for police. He urged senior jurors and reporting of suspicious behavior.

Vehicle collision at AGY plant investigated by SC Highway Patrol
SC Highway Patrol and Aiken County deputies responded to a Sunday evening vehicle collision at the AGY plant entrance on U S 78. A damaged gate and a Jeep Wrangler wedged inside the gate were observed. An ambulance arrived and left with no confirmed transport.
