Aiken Choral Society Gives Two Spring Concerts

The Aiken Choral Society under Dr. Maureen Simpson staged two concerts at the Aiken County Historical Museum and Cornerstone Baptist Church featuring selections from musical theatre opera and operetta. Highlights included Tiffany Reid and a diverse ensemble performing pieces from Carousel The Music Man Don Giovanni and West Side Story among others. The event wrapped with a romantic gondola duet and a bright modern finale as lovers and gardens echoed the season. The concert is set for Monday June 15 at 7 p.m. at Hopelands Gardens with performers from the society.

Fleeing a Crocodile Myths Versus Fast Escape Facts

The fastest escape from a crocodile is a straight line run not zigzagging. Crocs ambush from water and launch bursts to reach you briefly, with typical short sprints far below sensational speeds. On the moon bullets fall at the same speed as fired, but on Earth air resistance slows them, altering the effect.
