Detective novelist Spillane remembered with laughter and tears
Mickey Spillane, creator of Mike Hammer, was remembered at a memorial in Surfside Beach as a humble writer and actor who loved cats, Frosted Flakes, fishing, and helping others. About 150 attendees heard stories of his generosity and long residence near Myrtle Beach, with vows to spread his ashes in Murrells Inlet.
