One dead after morning blaze in North Augusta
A North Augusta man died in an early morning house fire at 7:15 a.m. at 2030 Wren Road. Firefighters found the body as they cleared the fully involved, roof-destroyed structure. The name is withheld pending kin notification. The blaze was under control within 15 to 20 minutes. The death followed another fatal house fire nearby Sunday at 402 Birch St. involving Larry F Huff, songwriter and former Marine.

Afghan intelligence says a foreigner and al Qaida member carried more than half a ton of explosives in a car stopped after a traffic accident near the U S Embassy in Kabul.
