Kathy Jacobs COTAS programs director reports a surge of neglected dogs and puppies at the Aiken County Animal Shelter after a week away. She describes abused dogs with ears hacked off, a mother dog with large litters, and multiple surrendered dogs filling kennels. Puppies respond to kindness despite fear.
Staff and volunteers cared for stressed animals at the shelter as more dumped dogs and puppies arrived hungry and flea ridden. An injured senior dog, a brown shepherd with burn paws, and several sick kittens joined the scene, all needing comfort and care. The speaker appeals for foster, time, and donations to lessen the burden on taxpayers.
A brief subscription invitation states to call 803-648-2311 for home delivery of the Aiken Standard.
