Suspect arraigned on murder charge in hospital shooting
Richard Plotts, 49, was arraigned at his hospital bedside after fatally shooting caseworker Theresa Hunt at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital complex and grazing psychiatrist Lee Silverman who fired back. Police found 39 unspent bullets and two guns at the scene. District Attorney Jack Whelan credited the doctor’s gun for preventing further deaths. Hunt’s brother Dennis described her as strong and good-hearted.
