Arson kidnapping suspect nabbed in Augusta
Aiken County Sheriff's Office sought Richard Odell Johnson 39 of 125 Carline Road for arson and kidnapping. He was arrested in Richmond County late Saturday by officers. The victim escaped as Johnson allegedly locked them in and set the home ablaze. Moderate damage occurred. no extradition hearing scheduled yet. Johnson has prior violent crime charges.

Community day camp teams with churches for mentoring
On a hot day at Gloverville Park volunteers from Christ Central Mission and Valley Alliance rallied to support a day camp that began Thursday. Debor ah Jackson a Schofield Middle School seventh grader helped with activities while families from Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Center Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church and other groups contributed. The program aims to register and mentor local children offering homework help and referrals through a church network to build lasting relationships.
