Man Fights Gator That Bit Dog at River Boat Landing
Toby Evans, a 44 year old Jackson resident, leapt into the water to rescue his dogs when a four foot alligator attacked his German shepherd Catz and a smaller Yorkshire. He punched the gator repeatedly after it grabbed the shepherd, taking several bites on his arm before the animal released the dog and both dogs escaped. Evans then pulled himself from the murky water.

Shoppes at Richland site prep hits snag with water line break
Demolition of the Swan Antique Mall and adjacent properties for the Shoppes at Richland proceeds. A six inch water main serving the old Antiques building was struck, sending water spray into the air for about an hour before line was shut off. Aiken Couple Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charges
Police charged Joseph P. Brewer and Katherine J. Brewer of 1126 South Boundary Avenue with 14 counts each after finding about 17 cats and five dogs living in unsanitary conditions with feces and garbage.
