Jail-A Thon Aiken Cancer Society fundraiser mock jail

The American Cancer Society hosts a Jail-A Thon fundraiser at USC Aiken from 10 am to 5 pm tomorrow and Thursday. For 25 dollars, participants can be arrested and bailed out by friends. bail is set by a judge and no one stays longer than two hours. The goal is to raise 15 thousand dollars by Thursday evening. Man Charged in Stabbing of 15YearOld in Graniteville

Ronnie Ryan of Graniteville is charged with assault and intent to murder in the stabbing of a 15 year old Graniteville girl who is in stable condition at Aiken Community Hospital. Ryan, 410 Main Street, is held on 20000 bond and faces marijuana possession charges. The incident occurred Saturday night.

Weekend Rain Chances With Warm Temperatures

The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies tonight with a low in the upper 60s and southeast winds around 5 mph. A 20 percent chance of rain remains. Tomorrow will be partly cloudy with highs in the low 90s and a 30 percent rain chance. From Thursday through Saturday expect scattered showers, more numerous Thursday and Friday, with highs in the mid to upper 80s and nightly lows in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Consumer Prices Rise 2 Percent

Consumer prices rose 0.2 percent in June as food costs edged up 0.1 percent and orange prices surged 22.5 percent. Gasoline fell 1.5 percent, pork and poultry rose modestly, and housing costs climbed 0.2 percent while medical care advanced 0.5 percent.
