N A Reveals Riverfront Development Plan in North Augusta
North Augusta may start riverfront development within six weeks if the plan from Wilbur Smith and Associates is accepted. The study proposes a 1 200 acre river area from I 20 to U S 1 bridges with a mini mall on both sides of the Georgia Avenue bridge, a nature science center, and a system of trails, to be funded by landowners, the city, and federal programs. Construction could begin by 1982 after forming a development committee and securing flood control measures and a riverfront commission.
