Independent nomination expands SC Sixth race

Charles H. Bert Smith, a 40 year old Darlington County farmer, named by the South Carolina Independent party to run in the Sixth Congressional District. He replaces Heyward Morris and will face John McMillan and Ed Basking in November. Party chairman Barnett plans continued conventions to build a full slate, with no changes to governor or lieutenant governor candidates.
