Ex-principal indicted for assault in 2015 case
Joel McKeon Mitchell of Graniteville was indicted June 12 on first degree assault and battery for touching a woman in a lewd manner without consent on December 15, 2015 in Barnwell County. Mitchell resigned as Williston-Elko High principal May 2016 amid staff tensions. He was arrested May 24, 2016 and his teaching certificate was summarily suspended June 16, 2016. No court date is listed.
