Yankee Villa and Its Long Garden History in Aiken

The Yankee Villa, once owned by the Goshorns, gained its name from northern jockeys renting rooms. Earlier owners included Dr. Robert Johnson who turned the upstairs into efficiency apartments, and C. L. O Neale who bought in 1950, auctioned surrounding lots, and traced ownership to the Taintors. The Taintors, famed Winter Colony residents, were linked to lavish gardens and frequent town mentions as newcomers for the season.
