Thunderstorm Strikes Columbia Area Causes Hefty Wind Damage
A 75 mph wind gust at Columbia Metropolitan Airport damaged temporary danger structures and caused power outages while the terminal stayed open. The storm moved downtown at 6 pm, toppling trees and power lines and dropping hail up to an inch in diameter. Other severe storms felled trees in Anderson, airfield, Kershaw and Lexington counties.

Record marijuana seizure in Chester County field
State agents observing from a helicopter located a field in Chester County with more than 15 000 cannabis plants valued in the millions. Deputies on the ground confirmed the find near a wooded area with a campsite and generator. No arrests reported. Lancaster County reported 17 000 plants last week.
