Wal Mart Removes Rock Magazines From Shelves
Wal Mart plans to remove rock and comedy albums and magazines like Rolling Stone from its 900 stores in a merchandising decision made in May. Spokesman Jim Von Gremp said the move was not prompted by Jimmy Swaggart or any group and involves items under constant review. Swaggart invoked concern over rock in a sermon taped June 1. The Arkansas Gazette cited a June 13 memo listing 32 titles, though Von Gremp said he is unfamiliar with the memo.
