Barnes Expected To Fight Settlement In Aiken County
Aiken County Administrator W Scott Barnes will receive 9172 89 in severance pay after a two hour executive session. The package covers 240 hours of annual leave plus 612 86 in FICA and 548 77 in retirement money. Barnes attorney B Henderson Johnson says he will pursue the payoff in court, arguing he is entitled to his annual and administrative leave in addition to their contract. The council vote to approve came after Barnes was suspended and dismissed following his June 14 arrest on unlawful use of a county telephone.
