Southern Asks To Discontinue Train Through Aiken
The Southern Railway asks the Railroad Commission for permission to discontinue the passenger train through Aiken at 7 43 a m returning from Branchville at 12 56 p m. A hearing was held in Columbia yesterday with no known decision. The plan would move the Aiken service to 4 20 a m and 9 10 a m on the down and return trips. The morning Augusta to Branchville service at 7 13 a m has run at a loss for years.

Turner Home Destroyed by Fire at Bath
Fire totally destroyed the home of Frank Turner in Bath Aiken county last Friday. The loss was about 12000 dollars. A collie dog housed in the building in the absence of the family was burned to death. The Turner home was an old Colonial dwelling and a show place in the area. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Fairfax Summers Buried After Funeral Rites
Fairfax Summers of Aiken died Friday night at age sixty eight from a stroke. He was buried Sunday after funeral services at George's Undertaking Parlors. A Kansas City native, he was a civil engineer, inventor and educated in five languages with music knowledge. Survived by widow Lilian Thomas Summers, daughter Mrs. W. J. Campbell and two sons W.
