A.Y. Morgan age 89 died Tuesday July 14 2009 at the Medical College of Georgia He served as budget and finance director for the DOE at SRP and later as assistant manager for administration A Navy veteran World War II He is survived by wife Marjorie Putman Morgan two stepdaughters a son and three grandchildren Memorials to Aiken Mental Health Shellhouse Funeral Home in Aiken is handling arrangements with services July 15 and 16 followed by a visitation.

Survived by parents two daughters Camaya Brown and Takeriya Peterson one son Jameris Peterson Moore three sisters two brothers and many relatives. NC probes who suspected SC serial killer was freed
A North Carolina parole officer defended for not ordering jailers to keep a career criminal behind bars after his release led to a string of killings in rural South Carolina. Patrick Burris, freed June 12 after parole violations, killed five people between June 27 and July 2 before dying July 6 in a Gastonia shootout. Burris had more than 30 prior arrests in NC and convictions in four states. officer Angela Merrill had flagged curfew misses and vehicle issues but was unable to prevent his release while busy with other parolees.
