The Aiken County Sheriff's Office will bill home and business owners for repeated false burglar or fire alarms. Since January deputies responded to 2 567 alarms, 76 percent false, prompting a $25 charge for each additional false alarm per quarter after the first per residence or business.

The Aiken Planning Commission recommended approval of a 27.6 acre annexation west of Whiskey Road for Excel Inc and Home Depot with buffers of 100 feet, added trees, and no more than one driveway onto Whiskey Road Stratford Drive and Sizemore Road. Residents raised concerns about water pressure sewer capacity traffic and exhaust. Planning notes shifts will limit peak flow.
The enormous oak between Colleton and South Boundary avenues on Kershaw Street was felled after aging created cavities and dangerous branches. City officials say the tree posed a hazard as it aged, with sections snapping into nearby yards during spring storms.
