Alonso captures second straight Home Run Derby crown in Denver
Pete Alonso outslugged Shohei Ohtani Trey Mancini and Juan Soto to win the 2024 Home Run Derby at Coors Field. He launched 74 homers including a 514 foot blast to set the pace and earned 1 million more on top of a $676 775 prize, joining Ken Griffey Jr and Yoenis Cespondes as back to back champions. Mancini, returning from cancer treatment, reached the final and praised Alonso while Soto dazzled with a 520 foot drive as Ohtani fell short in tiebreakers.
