Helping Hands receives VOCA grant for child services growth
Helping Hands in South Carolina secured nearly 400000 from the S C Department of Public Safety for the 2015 2016 funding year under the VOCA program. CEO Carmen Landy notes VOCA funds support child victim care through volunteers and improved services. The agency, active since 1973, runs an emergency shelter for abused and neglected children and employs new child advocate positions, expanded volunteer roles, and upgraded equipment and facilities with the grant. Volunteers contribute thousands of hours annually, aid life skills, crafts, and safety, and staff monitor residents with enhanced resources and security systems.

Snake expert calm under bite at Aiken Sierra Club talk
