Winnsboro Strife as Hook Up Inc Strikes Over Wages
In Winnsboro a two week old strike at Hook Up Inc over low wage increases and incentives draws attention in a town with few unions. Mayor Quay W. McMaster, a Mack Trucks recruiter, voices mixed sympathy and disapproval while noting the picket line disrupts daily work. Union negotiator Paul Morris cites an 8 percent three year raise tied to performance. Hook Up counters as reasonable and rehiring plans.
