Governor's group critiques MOX cost study at Columbia
South Carolina officials and Pete Hanlon of the National Nuclear Security Administration scrutinized a $51 billion study of the MOX program at SRS. They argued the Aerospace Corp. report focused on tech costs rather than construction and timeline, noting risks are tied to execution and finish dates. The group discussed cheaper downblending options, a 1 billion per year funding need, and a Red Team review with an August 10 deadline as MOX remains 65 percent complete with 1,700 workers.
