Library hosts wild animal showcase at Aiken library
At 2 p.m. in the Aiken County Public Library meeting room, Sean Poppy of the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory presented live amphibians reptiles and mammals to about 150 children as part of the Summer Reading Program. He demonstrated species including barking tree frogs turtle species lizards and snakes with safety notes and a reminder to read for more knowledge at the library. The program concluded with mammals such as an opossum baby armadillo and a Southern flying squirrel and announced the next Young Adults event on reuse reduce recycle at 4 p.m. today.

Aiken SPCA Dog Wash fundraiser returns this Saturday
The Aiken SPCA hosts a dog wash at Cold Creek Nurseries 398 Hitchcock Parkway from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds benefit the shelter with options for the works at 20 dollars or individual services. Microchips are available for twenty dollars and dogs must be leashed.
